Multiplexers, Splitters and Circulators

Optelian's multiplexers combine multiple signals onto a single fiber. Multiplexers are highly reliable, optical DWDM, CWDM, and WDM devices. Splitters and circulators are also available.

Optelian offers standard 40 and 80-channel DWDM as well as 8-channel CWDM and DWDM multiplexers. Most models include a wideband 1310 or 1550 nm port for overlaying new channels on existing circuits and a faceplate monitor port for testing and installation. Active CWDM systems are hardened for outside plant applications.

Custom configurations and channel plans are supported with standard lead times and no additional set up or assembly charges by leveraging Optelian's unique manufacturing capabilities. Customizable options include:

• Number of channels; specific wavelengths
• WDM, CWDM or DWDM
• Mux/Demux or OADM; uni-directional or bi-directional
• Splitters
• Circulators
• Additional 1310 or 1550 nm wavelengths for overlaying on top existing systems
• Monitoring port
• Connectors: SC or LC; PC or APC

As shown in the diagram to the right, for xWDM applications, signals from SONET/SDH, Ethernet, or other transmission equipment are converted to the required wavelengths through muxponders, transponders or SFP/XFPs used in the transmission equipment before being combined by the multiplexer.

Optelian's 80-channel DWDM is a modular system. Once the first 40 wavelengths are used, a second 40-channel multiplexer can be added for future growth without disturbing traffic on the original channels.
